Entitlements

Entitlements are how Destesi decides what you can use. They are granted per workspace: a workspace is entitled to a set of products, and within each product to a tier that defines what that workspace can do.

Put simply: entitlements are the answer to “which products show up in my launcher, and what can I do inside them?”

Entitlements are per workspace

Access is a property of the workspace, not of your personal login. If your company workspace is entitled to Studio and your personal workspace is not, switching between them changes what you can open. This is why the 9-dot launcher can show a different set of products depending on which workspace you are in.

A new workspace starts on the free plan of every product, and moves up by subscribing — see Plans and billing. Because access is granted to the workspace, a subscription bought by one member works for everyone in it.

Products and tiers

An entitlement ties a workspace to a product at a particular tier.

• The product part decides whether the workspace can use that product at all.
• The tier part decides how much — it carries the capabilities (the limits and features) that apply for that workspace in that product.

Different products understand different capability keys, so the tier is what lets one workspace, say, generate more or fewer items, or unlock a feature another tier does not include. The product reads its own capabilities; the workspace simply holds the tier it was granted.

What you see in the launcher

The products in your launcher are the intersection of two things:

1. Workspace entitlements — which products this workspace is entitled to.
2. Your access — your own per-member access within the workspace.

A product appears for you only when both are satisfied. That is why a teammate in the same workspace might see a slightly different launcher than you do.

Note

If a product you expect is missing from the launcher, the cause is almost always one of these two: the workspace is not entitled to it, or your member access in that workspace does not include it.

How it fits together

Entitlements are the access layer that sits on top of the rest of the model:

• You have one account and one login.
• That account works inside one or more workspaces.
• Each workspace’s entitlements decide which products and capabilities are available there.
• Those products use your workspace’s connected credentials and write their output to Drive.
